Walsall is a large industrial town in the county of Walsall. Coal mining and the metal working industries were the dominant industries in the town. However the coal mining industry in the town declined and was replaced by a leather industry. The town manufactures the handbags for the Queen, saddles required by the Royal family and also the leather goods for the Prince of Wales. The town is the home of the traditional saddle making industry. Hence the football club of this town has been given the name of the Saddlers. Iron and brass founding, plastics, electronics, chemicals and aircrafts parts are some of the other popular industries in this town.
University of Wolverhampton serves as the seat of higher education in this town. The university has a campus in this town and the students can enroll themselves in this university to fulfill their higher education.
The town has good transportation services. The town is well connected with bus, railways and tram services. Two small bus stations and a large bus station provides for the bus services in this town. The Walsall railway station helps in connecting the town to the other parts of the town and also of the country.
