Northampton is a town in the county of Northamptonshire. This town lies on the River Nene. This town is one of the largest towns in the United Kingdom without the status of a city. The town was a major centre of shoe making and leather industries in the country. Engineering gained popularity in the post war time with a number of companies setting up base in this town. Finance and distribution are the other industries which have gained prominence in this town in recent times.
The town is full of landmarks. The Holy Sepulchre is among the oldest and the well maintained round churches in the country. All Saints’ Church, Northampton Cathedral, St. Andrew’s Hospital, 78 Derngate are some of the other landmarks in the town which draw a number of tourists to this town. Tourism is also a major economic activity of this town.

Northampton’s market square is among the largest and the most historic market places in the country. The town also has two shopping centers where people can get their necessities easily.
The town is famous for the Northampton Carnival, the dragon boat race, the Umbrella Fair, the Delapre beer festival, Northampton Balloon festival and Northampton music festival. The town is famous for all these activities and draws a good number of tourists to town.
