Exeter is the county town of Devon and has a population of around 125,000. The city is on the river Exe and has Dartmoor and Plymouth to the South West and Bristol to the North East. Exeter was an important outpost during Roman times and then an important religious centre during the reformation, a fact reflected in its 15th Century Anglican cathedral.
The city is an affluent hub of tertiary industry and education nowadays and is also home to the Met Office which along with the university is a major employer in the city. House prices in the city are generally higher than the national average.
