New development apartments have been in vogue for the past couple of years. These types of apartments include studio apartments, duplexes, threeplexes, penthouses and even two o three bedroom houses. The choice of apartments for people has increased considerably. New developments in urban areas have led to a perceived gentrification of old neighborhoods with wealthier people moving into previously run down areas of the city.
A greater focus on heat conservation and energy efficiency has been a factor for the increased demand for new development apartments. The new designs we're seeing now in the inner cities and commuter belts often stand out a lot among the period architecture and post-war buildings. The financial downturn of the early 2010s saw reduced building of new development apartments, but especially in London there is a renewed impetus on this kind of building in line with the increased demand.
