Mansfield is a town located in the county of Nottinghamshire. Coal mining and the textile industry were the dominant industries of this town. These industries declined in the eighties. After the decline of these two industries, the other industries which sprang up in this town includes retail shops, theatre, pubs, night clubs and bars. The market square where all these pubs, theatres are available is a great source of employment for the people in this town.
The Palace Theatre, the Mansfield museum, the Intake Club, Sherwood Forest, the Town Mill are some of the tourist attractions in the town. They are also a source of entertainment for the people in this town. An event is held every year called “Summer in the Streets” by the Mansfield District Council. Many public events are held in this event. Live music by music bands, art work, handicrafts, face painting, circus skills are some of the things which take place in this event in the town.
The town also boasts of a lot of green spaces in the form of parks. Some of the parks which can be found in this town include the Fisher lane park, the Carr Bank Park and the Titchfield Park. The Carr bank park has a war memorial in it. The Tichfield park has a flowerbed, playing area for the children and also a basketball court. These places are immensely popular among the people of this town for walking, jogging and also for the purpose of passing of leisure time.
