Northampton is a town in the county of Northamptonshire. This town lies on the River Nene. This town is one of the largest towns in the United Kingdom without the status of a city. The town was a major centre of shoe making and leather industries in the country. Engineering gained popularity in the post war time with a number of companies setting up base in this town. Finance and distribution are the other industries which have gained prominence in this town in recent times.

The town is full of landmarks. The Holy Sepulchre is among the oldest and the well maintained round churches in the country.
